唰唰唰 carries the sound of repeated movement: sweeping, brushing, wiping, striking. The work gives ZhouKe a fantasy space in which labour becomes game logic, protest becomes image, and landscape becomes generated terrain.
Fantasy
The screen-based images show ZhouKe entering worlds that behave like escape environments. For human viewers, games often offer fantasy, rehearsal, and temporary release from ordinary life. Here that function is inverted through the character. These environments appear as her fantasy, a synthetic extension of her desires, roles, and possible powers.
Gesture
The cleaning tool shifts between broom, brush, weapon, wand, and interface. Its action is still linked to maintenance, yet it becomes excessive, theatrical, and charged. This instability is central to ZhouKe’s visual vocabulary. A repeated utilitarian movement can become an image of agency, a trace of labour, a magic action, or a performed protest gesture circulating as spectacle.
Terrain
The generated landscapes extend the project’s long dialogue with Chinese landscape painting without returning to traditional scenery. Space is built as atmosphere, duration, and movement through image. The landscapes are artificial, glossy, and computational, yet they retain the older question of how a figure moves within forces larger than herself. The work lets landscape pass through the screen as a contemporary internal condition.
